The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) was established in 1911 as a professional society for the individual with the purpose of education and professional advancement. The majority of PGMS members are institutional grounds managers who work for organizations such as colleges and universities, municipalities, park and recreation facilities, office parks, apartment complexes, hotels/motels, cemeteries, theme parks, etc.

DC Regional Seminar and Site Visit was a Success!

Over 60 grounds managers from all across Maryland gathered in the nation's capital for the 2008 PGMS DC Regional Seminar & Site Visit that took place July 17-18. Attendees enjoyed two days jammed pack with informative educational programs and entertaining site visits at some of Washington's most impressive grounds programs. City of St. Louis' Jamie Frank Earns CGM Status

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) has announced that Jamie Frank of St. Louis, Mo. has become the 112th grounds management professional to successfully complete its Certified Grounds Manager (CGM) program. Frank currently serves as an urban forester for the City of St. Louis Forestry Division where he has been for the past eight years. Click here to read the rest of the article.

Texas Branch Hosts Successful Start to 2008 PGMS Regional Seminars Series
Nearly 100 grounds professionals traveled to Dallas, Texas on March 6-7 at the launch of PGMS' 2008 Regional Grounds Management Seminars and Site Visitations series. With education programs on how to meet the push for sustainability and insider tours of the grounds operations at the Dallas Arboretum and Southern Methodist University the program was a can't miss. PGMS Green Star Awards Announced!
Society Reveals North America's Top Grounds Operations
PGMS has recognized 39 grounds management programs for excellence in the Society's 2007 Green Star Awards Competition. Celebrating its 35th year, the competition brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence. The Green Star program complements other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction. Overall, PGMS presented 19 Grand Awards, its highest honor, as well as 20 Honor Awards in fourteen categories of competition.
