The Miami Dade County Special Tax Districts Division, managed by the county’s Park and Recreation Department and Division Chief Gil Delgado, have created a beautiful landscape using green practices in order to become very active with the Green Movement. Using practices such as using rocks to add color in place of annuals to reduce water consumption, using materials that are Florida Friendly, keeping Medians and swales well mulched to prevent weed infestation, and also reducing the use of herbicides and irrigation and more have all contributed to creating this unique landscape. Community members can find Spiraea japonica, Goldmound, Green Island Ficus Roystonea, Royal Palms and other plantings that make up this aesthetically pleasing and earth friendly landscape. Not an easy feat for an urban environment.
