PGMS Announces 2017-2018 Board

Gerald Landby (on the right in photo) of Roosevelt, Minn. was elected and installed as the new president of the Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) during the Society’s annual Awards and Induction Dinner held on Friday, Oct. 20 in conjunction with the 2017 School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 18-21. The 96th grounds management professional to hold the office, Landby succeeds Marion Bolick, CGM (on the left in photo) as the chief elected officer of the over 100-year-old green industry organization.

In addition to Landby, PGMS members elected Jeff McManus, CGM of the University of Mississippi in University, Miss. as their president-elect. Gerald (Gerry) Dobbs, CGM of Rancho Cordova Recreation and Parks District in Rancho Cordova, Calif. was elected vice president and Mark Feist of American Univeristy in Washington, D.C., was elected as treasurer.

The regional directors are as follows: North East Regional Director, Don Savard, CGM of the Salesianum School, Inc. in Wilmington, Del.; North Central Regional Director, Bruce De Vrou, CGM of Spectrum Health Hospitals in Grand Rapids, Mich.; North West Regional Director, Joe Kovolyan, CGM of the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.; South East Regional Director, Susanne Woodell, CGM of Asheville, N.C.; South Central Regional Director, Corey Ruff of the Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas; and South West Regional Director, Kent Bagnell of The Venetian Casino & Resort, Las Vegas, Nev.

Directors at Large include: Cary Avery, CGM of the University of California-Davis in Camino, Calif.; Roger Connor, CGM of Duke University in Durham, N.C.; and Jared Rudy, CGM of the Villanova University in Villanova, Pa. Paula Sliefert of The Toro Company in Bloomington, Minn. will continue to serve as a Supplier Member Representative along with Lynda Wightman of Hunter Industries in Missoula, Mont.

Stephanie Bruno will serve the Board as PGMS executive director. PGMS leaders are already at work planning the 2018 School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO which will take place in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 17-20, 2018.
