College of the Holy Cross – Fitton Field

Athletic Fields
Honor Award

Fitton Field has hosted athletic competitions since the late 1880s and had noteworthy athletes such as Ted Williams, who hit a home run in his first at bat during an exhibition game as a newly signed Boston Red Sox player, in addition to Babe Ruth who also used the complex. By 2015, the need for a complete overhaul of the existing field was evident and the field was reconstructed in time for the 2015 Fall football season.
