Beginning in 2021, PGMS^® started offering member assistance to attend the School of Grounds Management Annual Conference. The application for this assistance will be available from April 1 - June 15 each year.

 

AREAS OF EVALUATION

Applicants will be evaluated for funding based on the following areas:

• Budget & Financial Need (20%) - well-written with financial needs clearly defined

• Member Engagement (20%) - a new member who is active on a committee or in a local branch OR is a highly active member who serves on committee(s), in a branch, conducts webinars, etc.

• Promotion of PGMS^® (10%) - Promotes PGMS^® and its mission by recruiting new members, hosting site visits or webinars, writing newsletter articles, etc.

• Personal Professional Development or Recognition (10%) - Clearly defines how previous education opportunities have been utilized and have improved their operation and outlines how this scholarship will be utilized. Additional consideration points in this category include:
  • Achievement of the Certified Grounds Manager (CGM^®) or  Certified Grounds Technician ( CGT) certification within the past twelve months;
  •  Green Star Award recipient, and/or
  • Achieved accreditation or re-accreditation in the Landscape Management and Operations Accreditation program

• Assistance Application (10%) - Cohesive and well written application with no spelling or grammatical errors.

• Assistance Letter (30%) - Applicant thoroughly describes their goals and objectives, including situation, need, and intent for assistance.

 

SELECTION AND USE OF FUNDING ASSISTANCE

Members who are selected for funding assistance may receive funding on a full or partial basis based on the following parameters:

• Conference Registration ($450)
• Up to three (3) nights hotel ($775)
• Travel Stipend (up to $500)

Please note that the travel stipend is a direct reimbursement for a flight or driving mileage and all flights must be purchased at the economy level. Any upgraded seat options are at the expense of the member.

Members will be notified if they have been selected as a recipient by mid-June. Commitment for use of funding assistance will be required within 2 weeks of notification. If a commitment is not received by that date, funds may be provided to another recipient.

Members who receive funding assistance are required to attend the following events at the School of Grounds Management Annual Conference:

• Annual Welcoming Reception (Tuesday Evening) and
• Annual Business Meeting (Thursday morning)
