The Grounds Department at the University of Central Missouri strives to create a balance between beauty and functionality in the landscape, while providing a unique experience and a botanical garden type atmosphere. The goal of the department is to inspire and educate, as well as, provide a pleasing landscape that is conducive to learning to a greater degree. The grounds of UCM are planted with year round interest in mind including; nearly 10,000 annuals planted in the spring with tropical plants for focal points, mums in the fall, and an annual program of adding spring flowering bulbs. Guests and members of the campus community encounter a varied landscape of mature trees, azaleas, roses and an ever-changing living color pallet.
